The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Just over one month to go till this happens on 11th September I always knew that cycling 10k would be a challenge. What I wasn’t expecting was that 10k would actually push my body to a point where it would stop working in the same way as it does when I walk! I have continued to train for this cycle, but I am only training at between 7 and 8k each time. Why? From 6k my body starts to do the same thing as it does when I walk, it traps the nerves going to my legs so that I have

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week –16 and 17 Last Saturday and today I managed 8.5k! Today was a rainy ride at least it was cool and fresh. And Wow I am getting closer to the actual 10k. 8.5k is certainly pushing how far I can manage, the other increments seemed small in comparison to this one. This distance is certainly more challenging to my body, but hey I only have 1.5k extra to add on to be able to complete the 10k on the 11th September. To get this close to the final distance feels so great, but also

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week – I have lost count of the week!! Something like 15 I was reminded that I had not posted about my cycling journey for a while, did not realise it was nearly a month! Gosh…… I was reminded because I was asked if I had given up after my fall, and the difficulties I was having. Now, for me giving up is just not a thing, until I absolutely have no choice. I know exercise is so very important for mind and body, and this challenge is the perfect incentive for me to get out and on my

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week 10 and 11 I’ve been a little quiet these last couple of weeks, between the weather, what wind and rain we had and work. I have been out, slowly increasing my distance once again. I’m not gonna hide the fact it has been challenging, cycling whilst be completely aware of what each part of my body is doing has been tough. Keeping that concentration there so that my body doesn’t go back to wanting to lean in a certain way or not be balanced. But I am getting there. Last week I kept

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week 8 and 9 As mentioned in my last post (week 7), week 8 was a continued recovery and busy work week. I was camping in a field working and getting part payment in 9 week old chickens – yep I love to barter where I can and having lost my chickens to a fox October 2020 the opportunity could not pass me by to have new chicks in my life! This week I got back on cycle, preparing myself to be mindful and reteach my body what it is supposed to do on a bicycle. My tires had gone down urgh

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week 7 Due to injury, I dislocated my sacroiliac joint and right shoulder, last Sunday, I will not be cycling this week to give my body time to recover. The lesson I learned from my fall, was twofold; How important horse riding was to my body. As mentioned at the start of this journey my faithful and long time companion, friend and horse was put to sleep November 2020 when his illness became worse and his was suffering. Horse riding enabled me to balance my body, giving me great

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week 6 Friday was a lovely early cycle, feeling good and enjoying being out 6k no problem. Today, Sunday, was certainly much more a challenge, although I woke feeling good. The start of my cycle was great, looking at the beautiful colours of green on the trees from the entrance of the common, Spring colours. As I was cycling past the old control tower – now a cafe, a momentary stop for a photo. So good to that it has obviously opened it’s doors again with gazebo’s outside for people

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/DiCycle10k4CSSEF Week 5 So, week 4 was a challenging week, I did manage to get out for a 2.4k ride on the Sunday, but that was all. Week 5 due to other commitments I could only get out on Friday and Sunday, but I was very pleased with myself for a 4k and a 6k ride respectively. Friday saw a beautiful day, I had to stop about 2/3 of the way round as a couple of birch trees called to say hello, and after all it is rude not to respond when a tree wants a conversation, right? Sunday again was a gorgeous

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge Week 4 Virginmoneygiving page tells me it 158 days till my challenge! My total so far is £108 or £133 with gift aid added. This is incredible thank you all for helping me. This week is seeing a more challenging week for me physically, I have learnt my lesson that cycling Sunday in such cold weather, followed by more days of cold weather, has put me back in my winter pain and stressed body unable to do. So, lesson learnt I will not be doing this again. But it has now knocked me a week off my cycling. It’s ok though I have plenty of

The journey to Cycle 10k for CSSEF – Twilight Runway Challenge Week 3 My 3rd cycle of the week saw the most fabulous early morning sun, the long shadows the sun casts as it is rising, the frost still on the grass, and the need to scrape my van windows on the side the sun had not yet warmed through. When I arrived for my cycle it was 0 degrees centigrade after a really fresh cold night. I love exercising early morning, and especially on mornings like today, you can see Spring is here, but there is still that bite in the mornings. I also love camping at this time of year waking up in my van
